Free counselling intro calls in Singapore: what’s included?
A short conversation can help you decide about care. Check what the offer covers before treating it as your first counselling session.
A free introductory call is a chance to discuss your needs and whether a service might fit; it does not make later counselling free. New Vision publishes a free 10-minute initial call for first-time clients. Sacred Space publishes a free 30-minute phone consultation. Both list paid counselling separately. The useful choice is what you need to understand before agreeing to a full appointment.
You might be ready to speak to someone, but unsure about paying for an appointment before you know how it works. An intro call can give that decision a little room. If your main concern is affording ongoing care, though, the price of the next appointment matters more than the word “free”.
Counsilio publishes this guide. We selected two Singapore counselling practices whose official pages clearly separate a free introductory conversation from paid individual sessions and state the paid session’s currency and length. They appear alphabetically, without a quality ranking. This is a small comparison of published offers, not an independent endorsement or proof that a slot is available. Facts checked 22 October 2026.
Two free introductory calls, with paid care shown beside them
| Practice | Free introduction | Separate individual session | How to begin |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Vision Counselling and Consultancy | 10-minute initial call for first-time clients, before booking a first session, to explore whether the service suits their needs. | S$150 including GST, lasting 50–60 minutes. This published fee is for online counselling. | Arrange the initial call through the WhatsApp contacts on its official fee page. An enquiry starts the scheduling conversation. |
| Sacred Space Counselling | 30-minute phone consultation to discuss what brings you to counselling and whether working together may fit, with no obligation. | S$200 for 60 minutes. The pricing page does not state GST treatment. Its FAQ favours in-person care and says online sessions can be offered in certain circumstances. | Use the linked official contact page to request the consultation. The listing does not confirm a particular appointment. |
For Sacred Space’s delivery arrangements, see its practical FAQ. Its FAQ also says faith integration follows the client’s preferences and that people do not need to be Christian to attend. This is the practice’s description of its own service, not a claim that every client receives the same approach.
Use the call to resolve the thing holding you back
An introductory conversation is most useful when it helps you understand the next step. You may want to know whether the service works with your concern, how appointments are conducted, or whether the proposed arrangement fits your budget and timing. The provider should explain the service clearly; you do not need to arrive ready to evaluate a whole roster of practitioners.
Here is an invented example. You finish work at 6pm and can speak privately only after 8pm. Your concern is whether counselling can fit around that constraint. A brief opening could be: “I’d like support with work stress. I’m free after 8pm and can manage online appointments. Could we talk about whether that would work?” You can start there without sending workplace messages or a detailed account of your health.
The answer may help you choose a full appointment, consider another service or take more time. The free conversation alone does not establish a diagnosis, the number of sessions you will need or how counselling will turn out. There is no need to use its short duration as a test of whether you can tell your whole story quickly enough.
Think one appointment beyond the free call
Consider this fictional budgeting example: you can spend about S$160 a month on counselling. An introductory call costs nothing under the two advertised offers, but the next appointments have different prices. One New Vision individual online session at its published S$150 rate falls within that example budget. Sacred Space’s standard S$200 individual session exceeds it before any separately agreed discount. That is simple budgeting, not a recommended meeting frequency or proof that either service is suitable.
A practical constraint can matter as much as the fee. If you need remote care, New Vision’s quoted rate is explicitly online. Sacred Space’s free consultation takes place by phone, but that does not mean its later counselling appointments automatically use the same format. Keep the consultation and the proposed ongoing service separate.
Payment also starts at a different point. New Vision lists payment for a single counselling session on the appointment day; discounted packages are prepaid. Sacred Space says the first paid session is paid before it takes place, with later sessions paid afterwards. Their New Vision and Sacred Space fee pages contain their respective appointment and cancellation policies. These terms belong to those providers.
If you need free or lower-cost ongoing support, start with the existing Singapore counselling cost and funding guide. It explains public and subsidised routes separately from private-session prices. A free introductory call and a funded counselling appointment answer different needs.
If you want help finding a suitable counsellor
Counsilio’s personal onboarding starts with your concerns, preferences, budget and timing. We take responsibility for counsellor quality and matching, explain the proposed support and practical arrangements, and help you switch if the match does not work. You do not need to select a practitioner alone before contacting us.
The confirmed Singapore offer is long-term individual online sessions from S$80, lasting 50–60 minutes. You can begin with something as simple as, “I’m considering counselling and want to understand what fits my budget.” We discuss your needs and a suitable match and arrangement; you choose whether to proceed. See how guided matching works and what a first counselling appointment can involve.
Questions before choosing
Is a free counselling consultation a full therapy session?
Read what the particular offer covers. The two offers here are introductions before separately priced counselling. Do not assume a short free call includes the work or duration of a full appointment.
Does booking the call mean I have agreed to paid counselling?
New Vision describes its call as taking place before booking a first session. Sacred Space describes its phone consultation as having no obligation. Agree to the actual paid arrangement separately if you want to proceed.
Is the longer free call the better option?
Length alone does not establish quality or fit. Consider whether the service and practical arrangement meet the need that brought you there.
What if I cannot afford the later sessions?
Bring your budget into the conversation early. The existing cost and funding guide above describes other routes. An introductory offer does not promise ongoing free care or a fee reduction.
If you need urgent support, use MOH’s mental health support routes or our crisis resources. An introductory appointment is not an emergency response. Public support information is available without contacting Counsilio.
