Therapy cost in Singapore depends on the provider, session length, format and any subsidy you qualify for. In the four options below, published individual counselling fees include Counsilio’s long-term sessions from S$80 for 50–60 minutes, TYHO’s online appointments from S$130.80, and income-tested community fees from S$40 per hour. These are different services and fee conditions, rather than a single market rate. MediSave, CHAS and time-limited counselling subsidies are separate routes; the funding section below explains which rules apply now.
Compare four therapy providers and routes in Singapore
We checked the linked official fee and service pages on . This selection covers private online counselling, community counselling and a centre with means-tested fees. It compares individual talking-therapy appointments, not psychiatric consultations, medication or diagnostic assessments. Counsilio publishes this guide and is included in it; the order is not a quality ranking. We have not tested these services or contacted them to confirm appointment slots.
Fees are in Singapore dollars; GST is identified where the source states it. Each provider’s fee, duration, format and access conditions belong together when comparing options.

What changes the comparison?
A lower appointment price can buy less time. Care Corner’s published S$120 starting fee covers 45 minutes; TYHO’s S$130.80 online starting fee covers 60 minutes. Dividing by the listed duration gives about S$2.67 and S$2.18 per minute respectively. This is arithmetic at those starting rates, not a measure of clinical value or a promise of the rate you will receive.
Format and eligibility change what you pay. TYHO’s in-person supplement adds S$43.60 to the online base fee. CCC’s S$40 minimum depends on its subsidy assessment. If your online ceiling is S$100, use the affordable online therapy guide for that narrower decision, including lower-fee routes with access limits.
A session price is not a monthly budget
At Counsilio’s S$80 starting rate, two sessions would total S$160 and four would total S$320. These are arithmetic examples, not a recommended schedule or a quoted package. The applicable price and arrangement are explained during onboarding.
For example, “I can spend S$100 per session” is different from “I have S$100 for the whole month”. Someone with irregular income might also need to plan around a month with fewer shifts or extra family expenses. Tell us what is manageable alongside food, rent and other essentials. You do not need to share bank statements or transaction details in an opening message.
Budget is part of the conversation about care. Discuss an appropriate pace with your clinician; a calculator cannot decide how often you need support. The monthly budget guide helps you separate the cost calculation from the care decision.
What if S$80 is still out of reach?
You can explore another route without stretching money needed for essentials. A donation-based service, an eligible subsidy or public healthcare may be a more manageable starting point. The right route also depends on what help you need, its access rules and current intake. These are separate services; Counsilio does not administer their subsidies.
Donation-based counselling
SAMH Insight Centre lists individual counselling for stressors in life or mental illness and family counselling for families affected by mental health issues. Its fee is by donation. Call its helpline to discuss an appointment. Sessions are scheduled; its evening online appointments are for existing clients and subject to counsellor availability.
Check the dates on subsidised counselling offers
Do not build your budget around an old six-session listing. The NCSS client information sheet for its newly appointed partners states that this pilot concluded on 30 September 2026. Singapore Counselling Centre’s current subsidised-counselling page also says it is no longer accepting applications. These facts concern the named pilot and provider; they do not mean every subsidised counselling service has stopped. Use a currently open service and its actual eligibility and fee, rather than treating a CHAS card as a universal counselling voucher.
Income-based fees for eligible women
AWARE’s Women’s Care Centre serves women aged 18 and above residing in Singapore. Its published 2026 counselling fees follow an income-based scale. The centre uses appointments rather than walk-ins. Its service and access rules are different from Counsilio’s; use AWARE’s current page to see whether this route fits your situation.
Can MediSave or CHAS reduce the cost?
They can support eligible medical-care routes, but do not automatically pay for every counselling appointment. MOH lists participating mental-health GPs and polyclinic services. For Singapore citizens, CHAS support for the specified mental health conditions is through participating GP arrangements; it is not a blanket subsidy at any private counselling platform. A GP or polyclinic can also help assess what care is appropriate.
The current MediSave limits
As at 15 October 2026, MOH lists annual MediSave500/700 withdrawal limits of up to S$500 per patient, or S$700 for complex chronic conditions, for eligible care. MediSave is money from medical savings, rather than a discount or an extra grant. A withdrawal ceiling does not establish your eligibility or settle your whole bill. The CPF Board explains the applicable cash co-payment and Healthier SG exception.
Higher limits start in January 2027
MOH’s announcement dated 8 October 2026 says the scheme will be renamed MediSave Chronic and Preventive Care from 1 January 2027, with limits increasing to S$700/S$1,000. Those higher limits do not apply to appointments in 2026. The MediSave and CHAS guide separates current limits, the future change and participating care routes.
Plan for the amount you actually need to pay
For example, having a CHAS card and seeing an online counselling advert does not connect that appointment to a subsidy. The service, condition and participating provider matter. If funded medical care is important to your budget, start with the relevant healthcare route. If you want private counselling, compare its payable fee and an appropriate schedule. Employer benefits and private insurance have separate provider and claim rules; the insurance guide explains that distinction.
What Counsilio helps make clear
We start by understanding your concerns, preferences, budget and schedule, then find a suitable therapist. Making the proposed support, price and practical arrangements clear is our responsibility. You can decide whether the proposal works for you. If a therapist does not work for you, we listen and help you switch.
A starting rate is not a promise that every session or arrangement costs S$80. It also does not establish a package, minimum commitment or payment timetable. Those details belong to the actual proposal, rather than an assumption made from a headline price. For more on the commitment question, read therapy packages or paying per session.
If repayments or basic expenses are the main difficulty, the money-worries guide includes official financial-support routes. Emotional support can sit alongside practical help; counselling does not replace debt advice or financial assistance.
Questions about cost and access
Is the cheapest appointment always the best value?
Consider suitability, duration, continuity and practical access alongside cost. A low fee is not useful if the service cannot meet your need.
Does a CHAS card make private counselling subsidised?
No automatic entitlement follows from the card. CHAS GP treatment and a time-limited counselling programme have their own participating providers and rules. Use the actual service’s current arrangements.
Can I use the higher MediSave limits in 2026?
No. MOH’s announced S$700/S$1,000 limits begin on 1 January 2027. The current MediSave500/700 rules apply before that date.
How does Counsilio fit into this choice?
Counsilio offers private online individual counselling in Singapore, with long-term sessions from S$80. Personal onboarding considers your needs and budget, and we explain the proposed arrangement. This starting fee does not establish MediSave, CHAS or insurance coverage.
