Getting started with Counsilio

Help finding a counsellor who fits your needs

You do not have to work out who to choose on your own. Counsilio starts with a personal conversation, then helps connect you with a suitable counsellor.

Counsellor quality and matching are our responsibility. Through manual onboarding, we speak with you, understand your concerns and requirements, and connect you with a counsellor suited to those needs.

1. Start an enquiry

Use the established WhatsApp route on our homepage. A brief description of what you want help with is enough to start. You do not need a diagnosis, a shortlist of counsellors or a perfect explanation.

Opening WhatsApp starts an enquiry. It does not book or confirm an appointment.

2. We understand your concerns and requirements

We speak with you during manual onboarding to understand what is happening and what you need from support. Tell us your location and any language, timing, accessibility or other requirements that matter to you. You can ask how to share private information safely before sending detailed health information.

If privacy is holding you back, you can begin by asking who reads an enquiry, what reaches the counsellor and how information is handled. Our guide to counselling privacy questions helps you ask for the policy and explanation that apply to your actual arrangement.

If cost is a concern, tell us what you can realistically manage. Budget and timing are part of understanding your requirements. Our guide to counselling and your budget explains a simple starting point and separate community support options in Singapore.

3. We help connect you with a suitable counsellor

We use that conversation to help find a counsellor suited to your concerns and requirements. We explain why the proposed counsellor is a suitable match for what you have told us.

We make the proposed match and practical arrangements clear before you decide whether to go ahead. This includes explaining what support is available for your location and the arrangement being offered. You remain part of the decision, with room to raise a concern or say that something does not work for you. An appointment is arranged separately from the initial enquiry.

Sessions that work around your life

Long-term sessions in Singapore start at S$80 and last 50–60 minutes. Female therapists and after-work slots are available. We make your proposed cost, appointment time and applicable payment terms clear during onboarding.

Comparing ways to get started?

You may prefer to talk through your needs, browse profiles or choose from recommendations. Counsilio starts with a personal conversation and takes responsibility for quality and matching. Our comparison of online counselling services in Singapore explains these different starting processes alongside published fees and formats, so you can choose the route that fits you.

If you are deciding between personal onboarding and a recommended shortlist, our Counsilio and Safe Space comparison looks at that choice alongside fees, session length and cancellation notice in Singapore. For example, changing work shifts may affect the appointment time and notice period you can manage. Tell us that constraint during onboarding; we include it in understanding what support could fit.

If you are weighing a clinic appointment against online support, start with the setting you can use. Our Counsilio and Incontact comparison brings together their formats, fee tiers and appointment-change terms. For Counsilio, tell us the practical constraint during onboarding; we include it when exploring a suitable match and arrangement. You can compare your options before deciding to enquire.

If the match does not work

You can choose to switch therapists. We listen to your concerns and help find the right person. You might tell us: “I need a slower pace so I can explain,” or “I wanted to focus on work, but we kept moving away from it.” We use that feedback to understand what needs to change and make the next arrangements clear. Quality and matching are our responsibility; you do not need to compare profiles and guess who is good for you.

Before your first counselling session

The onboarding conversation helps us understand your needs and find a suitable match. It is separate from your first counselling appointment. If you are wondering what to say once that appointment begins, our first-session guide explains common approaches and gives simple words you can use. The guide is general; we make your actual appointment arrangements clear through onboarding.

If you are unsure where to begin

If you’re wondering whether to see a counsellor, psychologist or psychiatrist, our guide to the different support roles explains the differences and how a GP can help when you’re unsure. Counsilio’s onboarding helps you explore counselling; a medical assessment is a separate route.

You can start by asking whether support might fit what you are facing. Describe one concrete difficulty and how it affects your day; you do not need to prove a diagnosis or select a counsellor before the conversation. Our guide to asking about counselling when your problem does not feel serious enough helps you put that hesitation into words and explains when a different support route is needed.

Try: “I’d like help finding a counsellor. I’m struggling with [a brief concern]. My budget is [what I can manage], and [a preference or timing need] matters to me. Could we discuss the next step?”

Our guide to getting started when you do not know which counsellor to choose explains what to share and what to understand before agreeing to support. You may also find our after-hours work messages guide helpful when describing work pressure.

Urgent support

Counsilio is not an emergency service. Do not wait for onboarding when help is urgent. In Singapore, MOH lists national mindline 1771 for 24-hour mental health support and Samaritans of Singapore at 1767 for people having thoughts of suicide. For an immediate life-threatening medical emergency, call 995. Elsewhere, use your local emergency or crisis support service.
