We explain your proposed arrangement.
Your appointment time is arranged with you.
MediSave and CHAS can support eligible medical care through participating healthcare services. They do not automatically cover an appointment because it is called therapy or because you have a CHAS card. Start with the care route that fits your needs, then establish the funding that applies to that service. MOH Singapore: mental health services for the public.
Start with the participating care route
MOH describes mental-health assessment and treatment at participating GPs and polyclinics. Its CHAS mental-health GP route covers specified conditions including major depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. A healthcare professional assesses the appropriate care; you do not need to label yourself from an online list to decide where to ask for help. MOH Singapore: mental health services for the public.
What MediSave can pay in 2026
The CPF Board lists MediSave500/700 limits of up to S$500 per patient per year for non-complex conditions, or S$700 for complex chronic conditions. Eligible CDMP treatment generally has a 15% cash co-payment, except at your enrolled Healthier SG clinic. The limit is not a separate allowance for every condition or appointment. Your applicable limit, remaining savings and eligible bill items affect what can be paid. CPF Board: outpatient MediSave limits and co-payment.
What changes on 1 January 2027
MOH has announced that MediSave500/700 will become MediSave Chronic and Preventive Care, with limits rising to S$700/S$1,000 from 1 January 2027. MOH ties the higher limit to treatment within a calendar year for two or more CDMP conditions, or one with recognised complications. These are future rules, not money available for a 2026 appointment. A new announcement date does not change its effective date. MOH: changes taking effect on 1 January 2027.
CHAS and MediSave do different jobs
CHAS provides Singapore citizens with subsidies for eligible treatment through participating arrangements. MediSave draws on medical savings for eligible costs within withdrawal rules. Neither is the same as private insurance or an employer’s counselling benefit. A CHAS card does not make every independent counsellor a participating provider. MOH Singapore: mental health services for the public.
Treat an old counselling offer as a dated offer
A CHAS card may also appear in the eligibility rules of a separate counselling programme. That does not make it the CHAS GP scheme. NCSS’s information sheet for its newly appointed partners states that the named pilot concluded on 30 September 2026. Do not assume an old first-six-sessions listing is still open, or that it describes all subsidised counselling. NCSS: newly appointed partners pilot end date.
Where Counsilio fits
Counsilio’s private online individual counselling in Singapore has long-term sessions from S$80, lasting 50–60 minutes. We speak with you, include your needs and budget, and take responsibility for quality, matching and clear information about the proposed arrangement. This offer is separate from the medical funding routes above. If funded medical care is what you need, begin with the relevant participating healthcare service. If you want to explore private counselling, tell us what is manageable for you.
Questions about cost and access
Can I use MediSave with any counsellor?
No automatic eligibility follows from the word counselling. MediSave applies to approved care and participating healthcare arrangements, with withdrawal rules. The actual service matters.
Does CHAS cover everyone who wants counselling?
CHAS GP subsidies apply through the relevant participating treatment route. A separate counselling programme can have different eligibility, fees and intake dates. The card alone does not establish an appointment’s funding.
Are the S$700/S$1,000 limits available now?
They are announced to start on 1 January 2027. Before then, the current MediSave500/700 rules apply.
Do Counsilio’s starting fees establish subsidy or insurance coverage?
No. The private starting fee and eligibility for a funding scheme are separate facts. Counsilio makes the proposed counselling arrangement clear during personal onboarding.
